Port Accessing Program

Program Description:

The purpose of this program is to enhance the practical and theoretical knowledge in addition to providing the RN with skills competence to access, maintain and care for patients with implantable ports.

  • This program is comprised of 3 parts:

a.       An introductory e-Learning Course

b.      Skills lab session

c.       Supervised patient experience in port accessing

  • This program is intended to provide the learner with a theoretical and practical knowledge of working with implantable ports. The skills lab will enhance the knowledge of the learner by a simulated learning experience that is conducted in small groups. The supervised patient experience will reinforce the skills attained in the lab and increase the confidence of the learner under the supervision of a mentor.
